Within industrial processes, the reliability of plate heat exchangers is essential for stable and efficient operations. As a heat exchanger has been in operation longer, plate fouling and gasket wear can lead to loss of efficiency and increased risk of failure.
For this project, one industrial plate heat exchanger with a plate pack of 37 plates was offered for planned overhaul. By carefully inspecting the technical condition of the entire plate pack and performing targeted maintenance, the heat exchanger was prepared for the next period of operation with optimal performance and reliability.
Our approach
Upon arrival, the plate heat exchanger was completely disassembled. All components were individually inspected and recorded. This specifically included:
The condition of the plates, including possible corrosion or damage
The condition of the gaskets and sealing grooves
Attack and contamination on both the water side and the product side
Wear of portholes and sealing surfaces
Based on this inspection, the revision process was determined and implemented.
The work consisted of:
Removal of all old gaskets
Chemical cleaning of plates to completely remove scale and deposits
Inspection of the complete plate package after cleaning
Installation of new OEM gaskets appropriate to the specific type of heat exchanger
Verification of sealing and correct positioning of all plates
Recording of final condition in a service report
The result
After completion of the overhaul, the plate heat exchanger is again fully usable within the industrial plant. The heat transfer has been restored and the seal meets the specified technical requirements.
